Common Terminology:

RAW: Rules As Written. If interpreting the rules as they are written
RAI: Rules As Intended. In cases where the RAW produces unexpected results.

Homebrew Rules

  • Crunchy Crits: When you critically hit, any extra dice you roll are maxed out.
    • Example: Player X attacks with a longbow whilst hunters’ mark is active. Instead of rolling 2d8+2d6+Dexterity, they will roll (8+1d8) + (6 + 1d6) + Dexterity
  • Shared Initiative: If two “Good” guys go next to each other in initiative, you can act during eachothers’ turns.
  • Rule of Cool: This is more notes for me, if a character wants to do something that is reasonable (examples provided), you can do it. This might only be possible once depending on what it is.
    • “I want to knock this guy down with the butt of my weapon, then cleave him in half”
      • RAW, this would require a separate weapon with the Topple property, however this sounds sick AF and would allow you to use it this time. I would not allow you to continue to use this, unless you have a feature that would let you - using a second weapon with the Item Mastery Topple for the first attack, and your main weapon for the second attack.
    • “I want to jump off the ledge and hammer the guy with an attack”
      • I would rule this as you dealing additional damage based on the Falling rules. You would also take this damage.
  • Crafting magic items of Rare+ is slightly tweaked, now requires special items that are found on a quest (provides a discount) or can be looked for in various markets
  • All hit dice come back on Long rest. I don’t think anyone will track hit Dice (you get 1/2 of your max on LR), so you get them all back on long rest.
